I wrote to Gefen about this and they replied: So, if that's true (and I'm not at all certain that it is) won't the splitter be getting mixed signals (literally) about the capabilities of the devices it's splitting the signal to? My limited understanding is that the display handshakes with the source and tells it all about its capabilities. Question: Will an HDMI splitter, say from Gefen, allow viewing of the same HD broadcast on these three displays simultaneously? A 1080p capable device, and two which have a max capability of 1080i.
